KWT Child and Youth Care Centre

The Isibindi Project

The Isibindi King William’s Town project is situated in Amahlati, within the Amathole District Municipality in the Eastern Cape.  Amathole has the second largest population in the Eastern Cape and has the third highest population density in the Eastern Cape.  The Amathole district is poor, with about 67% of its people living in poverty.  The project is situated in King William’s Town and its focus is on children and families made vulnerable as a result of HIV/Aids.  The project currently provides services to five villages which includes the Tyu Tyu, Lukhanwisweni, Motel, Ramnyiba and Ezibeleni villages.

The Isibindi Model deploys community based child and youth care workers and volunteers into the communities to provide developmental support directly in the homes of children, youth and families rendered vulnerable, with particular emphasis on the HIV/Aids pandemic and child – headed households.
